Last week, the weather forecast looked great for another overnight fishing charter from the Virginia Beach Fishing Center in Virginia beach, so we assembled a crew and went offshore. Trolling the first afternoon was slow for us and we only had a single mahi mahi bite to show for it, but as it got dark, the bites started up. The underdog charters crew caught and released a couple hammerhead sharks, and released a small swordfish before the sun came up. At sunup, we trolled for a short while with no results so we went bottom fishing. Bottom fishing yielded a great catch of sea bass and the new pending Virginia state record grey triggerfish at 6 pounds 12 ounces caught by angler Dave Walden of Yorktown, VA. After making a nice catch of wreck fish in the morning, underdog moved a couple miles north and offshore to the norfolk canyon to fish for swordfish. 3 hours of swordfishing produced 2 swordfish bites, with one released sword and one 60 inch swordfish landed. all in all it was great weather, a great trip that yielded 3 billfish catches- very good for Virginia Beach in November, a nice catch of bottom fish, and a pending state record grey triggerfish. We have plenty of dates available for charter fishing trips aboard the Underdog, so give us a call today and get your charter fishing trip booked!
